Antibiotic Resistance and Biofilm Production Among Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci Isolated From Indwelling Medical Devices in Nigerian Hospitals
Coagulase-negative staphylococci have emerged as important opportunistic pathogens associated with medical device-related infections. Their ability to form biofilms enhances persistence on artificial surfaces and contributes to treatment failure. Biofilm-associated infections are difficult to eradicate because bacterial cells within biofilms often exhibit increased resistance to antimicrobial agents. Understanding resistance patterns and biofilm-forming capabilities among clinical isolates is essential for infection prevention and improved patient management. This study investigates antibiotic resistance and biofilm production among coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated from indwelling medical devices.
