Prevalence and Virulence Gene Profiles of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated From Healthcare Workers in Tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria
Background
Healthcare workers can act as reservoirs and vectors for transmission of Staphylococcus aureus within healthcare settings. Colonization by virulent strains increases the risk of healthcare-associated infections among vulnerable patients. The presence of virulence genes contributes to pathogenicity and disease severity. Understanding colonization rates and virulence characteristics among healthcare workers is important for infection prevention and control. This study seeks to determine the prevalence and virulence gene profiles of Staphylococcus aureus among healthcare workers in tertiary hospitals.

Suggested Methodology
A cross-sectional microbiological study will be conducted using nasal swab samples collected from healthcare workers. Isolates will be identified using standard methods. PCR assays will be used to detect virulence genes and resistance markers. Statistical analyses will assess associated factors.
