Background

Burn wound infections remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a leading opportunistic pathogen associated with burn-related infections due to its intrinsic resistance mechanisms and ability to acquire additional resistance determinants. The emergence of multidrug-resistant strains significantly limits treatment options and increases healthcare costs. Understanding the prevalence, resistance patterns, and genetic diversity of clinical isolates is essential for infection control and antimicrobial stewardship. This study seeks to characterize multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from burn wound infections in Nigerian teaching hospitals.

Suggested Methodology
