Background

Mental health disorders contribute significantly to the burden of disease in Nigeria, yet many cases remain undiagnosed within primary and outpatient care settings. Nurses frequently interact with patients who may present with undetected mental health conditions. Screening tools provide opportunities for early identification and referral, but their utilization may be limited by knowledge gaps and insufficient training. Understanding nurses’ knowledge and use of mental health screening tools is important for improving mental healthcare integration within routine services.

Suggested Methodology

A descriptive cross-sectional study will be conducted among nurses in outpatient clinics. Data will be collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
