5 Research Questions

Background

Pre-exposure prophylaxis has emerged as an effective biomedical intervention for preventing HIV infection among high-risk populations. Despite increasing availability of PrEP services in Nigeria, awareness and uptake remain suboptimal. Factors such as stigma, misinformation, limited access to services, and concerns regarding medication safety may influence utilization. Understanding levels of awareness and determinants of uptake is important for optimizing HIV prevention strategies and reducing new infections among vulnerable groups. This study seeks to assess knowledge and uptake of PrEP among high-risk populations in urban Nigeria.

Research Objectives

  • Assess awareness of PrEP among high-risk populations.
  • Determine the prevalence of PrEP uptake.
  • Examine factors associated with PrEP utilization.
  • Evaluate barriers to PrEP access and use.
  • Identify predictors of PrEP uptake.

Research Questions

  • What is the level of awareness of PrEP among participants?
  • What proportion of eligible individuals use PrEP?
  • Which factors influence PrEP uptake?
  • What barriers hinder utilization?
  • What factors predict PrEP use?

Suggested Methodology

A cross-sectional study will be conducted among individuals recruited through community-based organizations and healthcare facilities. Data will be collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using logistic regression models.

Suggested Sample

300 individuals from high-risk populations
