Community Awareness and Preparedness for Cholera Outbreak Prevention in Flood-Prone Areas of Coastal Nigeria
Background
Cholera outbreaks continue to pose significant public health challenges in flood-prone communities across Nigeria. Seasonal flooding often contaminates water sources, disrupts sanitation infrastructure, and increases the risk of disease transmission. Community awareness and preparedness play critical roles in reducing outbreak vulnerability and improving response effectiveness. Despite recurring outbreaks, limited evidence exists regarding the level of preparedness among residents in high-risk areas. Understanding community knowledge, preventive practices, and emergency preparedness can inform targeted interventions and strengthen resilience against future outbreaks. This study seeks to assess awareness and preparedness for cholera prevention among residents of flood-prone communities in coastal Nigeria.

Suggested Methodology
A community-based cross-sectional study will be conducted among households in flood-prone communities. Data will be collected using interviewer-administered questionnaires and observational checklists. Statistical analyses will include logistic regression modeling.
