Mental Health Nursing
5 Objectives
5 Research Questions

Background

Oncology nurses frequently provide care to patients with life-threatening illnesses and often experience emotional exhaustion resulting from prolonged exposure to suffering and death. Compassion fatigue can negatively affect mental wellbeing, job performance, and quality of patient care. Although oncology nursing demands significant emotional resilience, evidence on compassion fatigue and coping strategies among Nigerian oncology nurses remains limited. Understanding the prevalence and determinants of compassion fatigue can inform interventions aimed at supporting nurse wellbeing and improving oncology care delivery.
